This is an exciting week! Toca Boca, one of our absolutely favorite developers, just released a brand new app yesterday. It definitely lives up to our expectations, and we’re excited to share it with you!
“Toca Boca has done it again! This is amazing and even fun for me and I’m 12. I would’ve stayed up all night but it was a school night soo I waited till morning…” - MaddieMae, a Toca Boca fan commenting on the app in iTunes
So, we’re not crazy. There were other people who were anticipating the release of Toca House. (Yes, these people are much younger than us, but, what can we say, our team gets excited about well-made apps. It’s our passion.) In honor of this big release, we’re going to cover two other Toca Boca apps that have been our favorites for a while. Look out world, we’re going to turn you into Toca fiends, just like us.
Top 5 Apps of the Week
Toca House - iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad ($1.99)
Here it is! Have we made it clear how much we love this app?
Ironing, doing the dishes, mowing the lawn and putting away the dishes has never been this fun. Keeping with the theme of fantastic illustrations, seamless gameplay and engaging activities, Toca House is an excellent addition to any families’ iPad.
You help five friends do their chores around a very tall house. Even kids who are reluctant to help around their real house will be enamored with these characters and their menial tasks. (The girl with the house-shaped head is a bit unsettling for some reason…)
Toca Tea Party ($2.99)
This app is equally as fantastic and has an added level of interactivity among family members and friends that we particularly like.
It serves as the perfect setting for any little girl’s tea party, one where you get to choose the place settings, drinks and treats. It’s super easy to use (no clean-up ; ) ), beautifully designed and has an incredible amount of detail. It also encourages kids to interact with their friends and family. Simply awesome.
Toca Store - iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad ($1.99)
This is probably the most educational of Toca Boca’s apps. You act as a cashier, so there are some addition lessons mixed in with your fun. It’s odd that they can make the most mundane tasks incredibly engaging and very entertaining.
Much like Toca Tea Party, the app also allows interaction with friends and family members. Which is a huge plus in our eyes. You can choose want you want from the store and have a buddy ring up your food stuffs.
And some non-Toca Boca favorites for our Android users!
Curlington HD - Apple (Free Version or $2.99) & Android ($1.07)
What is curling really? A couple of dudes brushing ice in front of a weighted stone? A truly, truly bizarre sport.
While there are not many Curling games on the app market, Curlington HD is a definite download. We may not know much about the sport, but this game is tons of fun. Fun features such as TNT stones and other add-ons make this game a must.
Dabble - Apple ($0.99) & Android ($1.00)
If Dabble sounds remarkably like Scrabble, it’s for a reason. This app is a new take on the classic word game, one where players must arrange five words varying in length from two letters to five letters out of a certain number of letters.
It’s really quite challenging, like Scrabble on steroids. We love that you can play with friends, on one tablet. This makes the app an ideal choice for long car trips, where the whole family can play while zooming down the road.
